Dry matter intake and ruminal fermentation parameters in goats fed sugarcane in replacement of corn silage

چکیده

ABSTRACT The trial was conducted with the objective to evaluate fresh sugarcane as a replacement for corn silage on dry matter intake, ruminal parameters (pH, short chain fatty acids, and ammonia nitrogen concentration), degradation kinetics of forages concentrate in maintenance adult goats. Four nonlactating ruminally cannulated goats were used 4 × Latin square design 0, 33, 67, 100% by independent variable. substitution did not affect daily weight gain, or pH. A quadratic effect observed concentration maximum at 74.43% inclusion, well concentrations acetate butyrate 0.59 32.70% respectively. minimum propionate verified 10.36% inclusion. However, acetate:propionate ratio linearly decreased increased content. No different rumen environments forage neutral detergent fiber degradability (effective potential degradability, soluble degradable fractions). Dry 66.79% 72.62% after 96 h incubation. Neutral 37.10 51.82% silage, respectively, In conclusion, can be feed without altering intake while increasing production.

Effects of homo-fermentative bacterial inoculants on fermentation characteristics and nutritive value of low dry matter corn silage

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of inoculation of homo-fermentative lactic acid bacteria(LAB) on ensiling characteristics and nutritive value of low dry matter corn silage (LDMCS). Corn foragewas harvested at milk stage (22.8 ± 0.9% DM), chopped at theoretical length of cut (TLC) 2.5 cm, and stored in eighteen 3.8 L mini silos for each treatment. The following treatments were u...

Dry Matter Intake and Digestibility in Weast African Dwarf Goats Fed Raw or Processed Pigeon Pea (Cajanus Cajan) Seed

Four West African Dwarf (WAD) grower bucks averaging 6 kg in weight and aged between 5-6 months of age were used in a digestive trial to determine the intake and digestibility of raw or processed pigeon pea seed meal based diets. The diets designated RPBD, SPBD, TPBD and BPBD were formulated from cassava peel, palm kernel cake, brewers dry grain, bone meal and common salt to contain 15% of raw,...

Chemical composition, silage fermentation characteristics, and in vitro ruminal fermentation parameters of potato-wheat straw silage treated with molasses and lactic acid bacteria and corn silage.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of molasses and lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on the chemical composition, silage fermentation characteristics, and in vitro ruminal fermentation parameters of an ensiled potato-wheat straw mixture in a completely randomized design with 4 replicates. Wheat straw was harvested at full maturity and potato tuber when the leaves turned yellowish. The p...

Methane production, digestion, ruminal fermentation, nitrogen balance, and milk production of cows fed corn silage- or barley silage-based diets.

This study evaluated the effects of replacing barley silage (BS) with corn silage (CS) in dairy cow diets on enteric CH4 emissions, ruminal fermentation characteristics, digestion, milk production, and N balance. Nine ruminally cannulated lactating cows were used in a replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design (32-d period) and fed (ad libitum) a total mixed ration (TMR; forage:concentrate ratio 60:4...

Effects of the nature of nitrogen supplementation on voluntary intake, rumen parameters and ruminal degradation of dry matter in sheep fed oat silage-based diets

The effects of nature of nitrogen supplementation on silage DM intake (SDMI), total DM intake (TDMI), rumen parameters and ruminal degradation of DM of silage and wheat straw were studied using four adult Noire de Thibar rams. Silage was made from predominantly oats harvested at milk stage and ensiled without preservative. The silage was offered ad libitum as the sole diet (OS) or supplemented ...
